The City of Livermore is marking 150 years of incorporation with a month-long celebration in June. Residents and visitors are invited to take part in events across the community that recognize Livermore’s history, traditions, creativity, and civic pride.

Livermore was officially incorporated on April 1, 1876. The townsite was established in 1869 by William M. Mendenhall, who named the community after his friend Robert Livermore, an early rancher in the valley. From its agricultural roots and early wine-growing industry, Livermore has grown into the city it is today.
