At the annual State of the City address hosted by the Livermore Valley Chamber of Commerce on May 22, 2025, Mayor John Marchand highlighted Livermore’s strong sense of community, financial stability, and continued progress on city projects. Speaking to local leaders and residents, he celebrated achievements such as the success of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s El Capitan supercomputer and the city’s record-high livability survey results—95% of residents rated Livermore an excellent or good place to live. Mayor Marchand also praised the work of city staff and first responders, discussed housing and open space initiatives, and shared updates on projects like the Holmes Street fence replacement and the upcoming aviation innovation center. The mayor closed by reflecting on Livermore’s many recent honors, including sustainability and community awards, calling the city “awesome” and a true hometown.
