This project will implement roadway improvements in the vicinity of East Avenue as recommended by the City's Active Transportation Plan and the East Avenue Corridor Study, enhancing safety, accessibility, and mobility for all ages and abilities. This project includes:

  • modifying elements from the Tactical East Avenue Study (bulb outs and medians),
  • adding bulb outs to three additional intersections,
  • developing a bicycle boulevard through the neighborhood north of East Avenue (reference projects BB24, BB26, BB37 in the Active Transportation Plan), and
  • lighting improvements (will be completed as part of Street Lighting project TC201923).

The permanent bulb outs and medians will improve pedestrian safety by decreasing vehicle speeds through intersections, reducing crossing distance, and increasing pedestrian and bicycle activity. The bicycle boulevard will provide a safer route for cyclists to travel between existing bike lanes on Vasco Road and Maple Street.

More details about this project can be found here: Project Fact Sheet
