Key to the City is a unique behind-the-scenes look at municipal operations. It is a free program open to people who live or work in Livermore.

The next session of the program is scheduled for Spring 2026.

About the Program

Key to the City allows the public to peek behind the curtain of local government. Participants meet the Mayor and City staff, take part in a mock City Council meeting, venture on a "Discover Livermore" bus tour, and explore municipal facilities such as the fire training tower, water reclamation plant, and airport administration building during two-hour sessions held weekly for approximately 11 weeks.

Feedback from past participants has been overwhelmingly positive, including comments such as, "...Time spent very wisely;" and, "...You'll never view government in quite the same way."
