Latine Heritage Month is honored and celebrated from September 15 – October 15, 2026. It’s a time for Livermore Public Library to honor the rich, diverse histories and cultures of Latine Americans. The Library encourages the community to attend free events and utilize the offered resources and services to learn more about this nationally celebrated month.

• September 15 through October 15, 2026: Take and Make Craft: Papel Picado available at all Livermore Public Libraries. Children will learn about the significance of papel picado in Mexican celebrations and then create their own with tissue paper. Free kits can be picked up starting September 15, while supplies last.

• September 19, 2026, at 2 p.m. Author Visit with Aida Salazar at the Civic Center Library. Author Aida Salazar is visiting the Civic Center Library to celebrate Latine Heritage Month! She will share about her latest books, Stream and Sing Me a Story, as well as sharing about her writing journey. There will be an audience Q&A following her presentation, and her books will be available for purchase at the event from Towne Center Books.

• Lotería at all Livermore Public Libraries. Play lotería, a Mexican Picture bingo, for a chance to win books.

• September 24, 2026, at 5 p.m.: Virtual Author Talk: Where the Paletero Man Goes: A Journey of Neighborhood, Music and Art with Lucky Diaz. Join us for an exclusive online event with GRAMMY-winning artist and acclaimed author Lucky Diaz as he discusses his award-winning, bilingual children's book, Paletero Man! • September 24, 2026, at 7 p.m.: Da el siguiente paso: Descubre tus habilidades para iniciar o expandir tu emprendimiento en la Biblioteca Civic Center. Rosa Arrieta ectara en la Biblioteca Civic Center facilitando un taller sobre el autocuidado y empezando un negocio, al fin creando un plan de acción usando las habilidades que aprendan. No se requiere registro.

• September 26, 2026, at 1 p.m.: Lucha Libro at the Rincon Library. Luchadores will take the ring to use their lucha libre wrestling skills for a unique story telling experience! Everyone is invited to this family-friendly, professional wrestling event at the Library!

• September 27, 2026, at 2 p.m.: The Diana Gameros Trio at the Civic Center Library. Diana Gameros is a Mexican-born singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist whose music explores family, migration, and home. She has released three albums in Spanish and English and has been recognized by National Public Radio’s Tiny Desk Contest. Her latest album is Volver a la Luz.

• Latin American Candy Taste Test at all Livermore Public Libraries. Try out candy from across Latin America!

• October 1, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.: Chilean Folktale and Sculpture Workshop at the Civic Center Library. Chilean artist Antonia Lara Sanchez will be at the Civic Center Library leading a workshop featuring a traditional Chilean folktale, followed by a sculpture workshop based on the story. • October 2, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.: Movie Night and Latin American Candy taste test at the Rincon Branch Library. Try out candy from across Latin America at 6:30 p.m., and then stay for a showing of Encanto at 7:30 p.m.

• TeenTober: Mexika Block Printing Art Workshop with artist Elizabeth Jiménez Montelongo at all Livermore Public Libraries. Teens will learn about Mexika day-signs from artist Elizabeth Jiménez Montelongo then be guided to create their own block stamps to print their designs on cards. Learn about the indigenous perspective on cacao, its origin, and how chocolate made it to the U.S. with Casa de Chocolates. This program is for ages 15 and older, registration is required. • October 8, 2026, at 5 p.m.: Frida Kahlo-inspired tiny art at Rosa Fierro Cellars. Join Livermore Public Library and Rosa Fierro Cellars in celebrating Latine Heritage Month by creating tiny art inspired by Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
