Candidate Nomination Period Open for Nov. 3 General Municipal Election

The candidate nomination period is open for the City of Livermore's Nov. 3, 2026, General Municipal Election and closes Friday, Aug. 7. If an eligible incumbent does not file nomination papers by the deadline, the nomination period for that office seat only will be extended through Wednesday, Aug. 12.

The mayor serves a two-year term. The District 1 and District 2 councilmembers each serve four-year terms. To qualify as a candidate, an individual must be at least 18 years old, a registered voter and a resident of the City of Livermore and the district they seek to represent, if applicable, as required by state law.

Nomination paperwork pick-up and submittal will be by in-person appointment only within the City’s business hours. To make an appointment, please contact the City Clerk’s Office, at least 24 hours' notice is preferred.
