This past Monday, the Livermore City Council held a public meeting. Here's a recap of some of the actions the Council took at the meeting:

• Appointed Faith Alpher as the City's Poet Laureate for a two-year term.
• Presented the High School Junior and Senior Arts Awards to 13 awardees.
• Received an update on the City's Climate Action Plan, highlighting such progress as adding miles of new bike lanes, acquiring over 100 acres of open space for conservation, and receiving a $1.6M grant to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
• Presented a proclamation declaring June as Pride Month to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community and reaffirm the City's commitment to equity, inclusion, and belonging for all residents.  

There were several routine matters on the Consent Calendar which the City Council approved with a single vote. Here are just a few of the items:

• $2.7 Million Active Transportation Grant Application - Approved a grant application for funding to implement improvements along the East Avenue Corridor, supporting safer walking, biking, and transportation options.
• FY 2026–27 Road Repair and Maintenance Projects - Approved the annual list of street improvement projects funded through SB 1 road repair funds.
• New City Service Investments - Added positions to support landscape maintenance and groundskeeping, helping maintain parks, medians, and public spaces throughout the community.

Public Hearings and Business Items:

• Approved adding the Shea Aura development to the Montage Landscape Maintenance District, which helps fund landscaping and maintenance services for the area.
• Authorized staff to work with Shea Homes to incorporate alternative compliance methods, including in-lieu fees, to meet a portion of the developer’s affordable housing requirements for their Aura and Serenity residential development projects. The adjustments will be approved through future Affordable Housing Agreements.  
• Renewed the Livermore Valley Wine Heritage District for another five years to support marketing and promotion of Livermore Valley wine country.
• Approved a new Technology Disruption Policy and updated City Council meeting rules to comply with state law (SB 707).

Looking ahead, the next regular City Council meeting is scheduled for June 22 at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chamber located at 1016 S. Livermore Ave.
