10th Annual Science Poetry Awards Ceremony and Reading
The community is invited to celebrate the winning poets at an awards ceremony and reading featuring special guest Mayor John Marchand.
• Wednesday, May 20, 6:30 p.m.
• Civic Center Library, 1188 S. Livermore Ave.

All are welcome to attend.

Livermore Public Library invited community members to participate in the 10th Annual Science Poetry Contest, Poetry in a Test Tube. Residents and students in Livermore were encouraged to submit an original science‑themed poem on any topic, in any form, and at any length. To ensure fairness, AI‑generated poems were not be accepted.

Eligibility and Categories
Participants must either live in Livermore or attend school within the city. Entries will be judged within the following five categories:
• Kindergarten through 2nd grade
• 3rd grade through 5th grade
• 6th grade through 8th grade
• 9th grade through 12th grade
• General Adult

Prizes
Cash prizes and certificates will be awarded in each category:
• First Place: $75 and a certificate
• Second Place: $50 and a certificate
• Third Place: $25 and a certificate

March 2–April 1 Poem Entry Window Ended
Submission Guidelines
Email submissions to Poet_Laureate@Livermoreca.gov with “2026 Science Poetry Contest” in the subject line. Please include your name, address, phone number, poem title, and division. Students should also include their grade level and school. Participants are encouraged to use a personal or parent/guardian email address, as school-issued accounts may block outside messages.

Only one poem may be submitted per person.
